PM 1001 BALTIKA - Bornholm

The PM 1001 Baltika isn’t about depth, that’s for sure. At a mere 2 meters, it’s practically a snorkel site, but don’t let that fool you. This grounded fishing vessel, sitting right on the rocks near Nexø, offers a surprisingly engaging shallow dive. We love that you can see almost the entire wreck from the surface, its hull broken and twisted, telling the story of that ill-fated night. What makes it special for us is the accessibility and the way light plays on the structure. Sunbeams pierce the shallow water, illuminating the nooks and crannies where small cod and blennies dart in and out of the rusted metal. You’ll spend your time exploring the deck remains, peering into the former wheelhouse, and watching crabs scuttle across the rocky bottom beneath the hull. It’s a perfect spot for photographers looking for interesting light and texture, or for newer divers getting comfortable around a wreck without the pressure of depth. Our top tip: go on a calm, sunny morning; the visibility really pops, and the light is incredible.
