VITALES - Bornholm

Vitales isn’t just a wreck; it’s a time capsule just barely submerged. We love how the wooden timbers of this schooner vessel lie in such shallow water, sometimes barely a metre deep, making it accessible to even snorkelers. You’ll find yourself floating above ribs and hull planks, watching the light play through the water on the ancient wood. It’s an easy, calm dive – more like a meditative drift over history. What makes Vitales special is the way the Baltic Sea has embraced it. We’ve spent hours here, tracing the outline of the deck, imagining sails and cargo. You’ll see schools of small fish, often sticklebacks, darting between the frames, and the occasional flatfish camouflaged on the sand right next to the hull. Our favourite is spotting the crabs scuttling across the seabed, using the wreck as their personal playground. It's a dive that rewards slow exploration and a keen eye for detail. This site is perfect for photographers looking for unique light, or anyone who appreciates the quiet beauty of a wreck reclaiming by nature, without the need for deep diving gear.
