VULTURE - Bornholm

The Vulture wreck off Bornholm is one of those sites we always recommend, especially for divers who love a good story with their dive. She's a motor vessel, sitting upright at 27 metres, and while the official reports list her as "dangerous," we find that only adds to her mystique. What you get here is a real slice of history, well-preserved by the Baltic’s cool, dark embrace. Dropping down, the first thing you notice is the sheer scale. She’s a big girl, and the deck structures are still largely intact, offering plenty to explore. We particularly love nosing around the wheelhouse, imagining the last moments before she went down. Visibility can vary, but on a good day, you can see the entire outline, a ghostly shape against the green water. The wreck itself is now a home for various fish – schools of cod often hang in the shadows, and we've seen some surprisingly large flatfish tucked into the sand nearby. If you’re into penetration, some cargo holds are accessible, but always dive within your comfort and training. This isn't a dive for absolute beginners, but if you're comfortable with depths up to 27m and appreciate wrecks with character, the Vulture is a genuinely rewarding dive.
