DROME (PART OF POSSIBLY) - Marseille & Calanques

The Drome, a steamship that went down in 1918, sits upright at 46 metres. It’s a proper wreck dive, not just a pile of rubble. We love how intact it remains, especially the bow, which still points defiantly towards the surface. Drop down, and you’re immediately enveloped by the gloom, the light fading quickly as you approach the main deck. It’s the sheer scale that grabs you – you can swim along its length, seeing the davits, the remains of the mast, and the cargo holds. Schools of sardine often swirl around the superstructure, a silver curtain parting as you pass through. Look for conger eels peering from every dark recess; they’ve truly made this place their own. This dive suits experienced deep divers comfortable with limited light and potentially strong currents. Early morning usually offers the best chance for calm conditions here.
