Le Dornier 24 - Marseille & Calanques

Drop down onto the Dornier 24, and you’re instantly transported. This German seaplane, a relic from WWII, lies in remarkably good condition, split cleanly into two main sections. We love following the fuselage, watching the light play through the cockpit windows, which are still mostly intact. The engines are impressive, covered in a fuzzy blanket of yellow gorgonians. Schools of damselfish shimmer around the wings, and you'll often spot conger eels peeking out from beneath the larger sections of debris. It’s a relatively shallow wreck, making it a brilliant extended dive for those comfortable with deeper recreational limits and keen to spend time exploring the nooks and crannies. We’d suggest going early in the morning to beat the boat traffic and catch the best light penetrating the structure. It really brings out the textures of the plane.
