Roche Maeva - Marseille & Calanques

Roche Maeva often gets overlooked for some of its flashier neighbours in the Calanques, but we think that’s a mistake. Dropping to a comfortable 29 metres, it’s a solid intermediate dive. The site is essentially a series of rocky fingers and small canyons, creating plenty of nooks and crannies to explore. You’ll spend most of your time peering into crevices, looking for moray eels and lobsters. It’s also a good spot for spotting schools of barracuda cruising in the blue, especially in late summer. We find it’s best when you have a bit of local insight on the currents, as they can pick up, making the drift a bit more interesting, but also requiring some awareness. If you appreciate a good rummage around healthy Mediterranean rockscapes, Roche Maeva is a good call.
