Diving in Liguria is often about walls, gorgonians, and the unique Mediterranean light. We've had some incredible dives with WE Dive, particularly exploring the Cristo degli Abissi, where the statue emerges from the deep blue, surrounded by schools of small damselfish. Another favourite is the Tonnara wreck. Even though it’s broken up, the way the light filters through the sections, illuminating the red gorgonians, is spectacular. Visibility here can sometimes play games, but when it’s good, you can see these enormous fan corals stretching into the gloom. We'd suggest asking them about early morning trips; the boat traffic picks up later in the day and those first dives have a special kind of calm. Be prepared for cooler water, even in summer, but the marine life, especially the nudibranchs and octopuses tucked into crevices, makes it absolutely worth it.
