CITOS (POSSIBLY) - Al Hoceima

The Citos wreck, off Al Hoceima, is a proper dive into history. This old steamship lies at 24 metres, a dark silhouette against the blue. We love how the Mediterranean has taken it back, turning a dangerous wreck into a living reef. You’ll weave through the fragmented hull, a maze of rusted metal now home to clouds of damselfish. Look into the shadows of the engine room for the bigger stuff – we’ve seen moray eels peeking out and sometimes a hefty grouper patrolling its territory. It’s an atmospheric dive, a bit eerie but in the best possible way. The visibility here can be superb on a good day, 20 metres plus, letting you really appreciate the scale of the wreck before you drop onto it. Our favourite part is finding the anchor chain, still snaking across the seabed as if it were dropped yesterday. It's a great spot for advanced open water divers who appreciate wreck penetration (if experienced) and a bit of maritime history. For us, it’s not just a wreck, it’s a time capsule.
