JACOBO - Al Hoceima

Jacobo is an auxiliary ship, not a massive wreck but surprisingly captivating for its shallow depth. We love this site for its accessibility and the way it really embodies the "artificial reef" concept. Dropping down, you hit the deck at about 10 meters, and from there it's a slow, deliberate exploration. Barnacles encrust the railings, and you’ll spot scorpionfish tucked into every crevice, surprisingly camouflaged against the rust. What makes Jacobo special is the sense of history that lingers, despite the marine colonisation. This isn’t a wreck you penetrate, but swimming over the hold, peering into the shadowy interior, feels genuinely immersive. We've seen schools of juvenile barracuda shimmering above the deck plates, and we always keep an eye out for the resident moray eels that peek from under what used to be the bridge. It’s perfect for new wreck divers or anyone looking for a relaxed dive with interesting structure; no strong currents here, just calm Mediterranean water. Dive it in the morning for the best light, when the sun catches the metalwork and the fish are most active.
