LAVORO - Al Hoceima
The Lavoro wreck, sitting shallow at just 5 metres in Al Hoceima, offers a charming peek into maritime history and a surprisingly lively ecosystem. We love how accessible this site is, making it perfect for a relaxed dive, even if you haven't been in the water for a while. You'll find the hull largely intact, draped in a soft carpet of sponges and anemones. Look for schools of juvenile barracuda shimmering around the mast, and we’ve often spotted octopus tucked into crevices in the hold. Our favourite time to dive Lavoro is early morning, before the day boats arrive, when the light plays beautifully through the superstructure. The clear Mediterranean water here often pushes visibility to 20 metres or more, giving you excellent views of the wreck's full profile. It's a great spot for photographers keen on capturing the intricate details of growth on the metalwork or the shy moray eels peeking from the shadows. The Lavoro really shines as a second dive, a gentle exploration after something deeper, or as a leisurely hour spent observing the small, vibrant life that has made this sunken ship its home.
