MARAZUL - Al Hoceima

Marazul isn't a deep dive, by any stretch, but what it lacks in depth it makes up for in character. This fishing vessel sits just a metre below the surface, a skeletal hand reaching up from the seabed. We love how accessible it is, perfect for snorkellers or those just getting comfortable with their gear. The hull is still surprisingly intact in places, a rusty mosaic of reds and browns, and it’s become a fantastic artificial reef. What you'll find here is a vibrant miniature ecosystem. Schools of juvenile damselfish flit in and out of the gaps, while small octopus often hide in the darker recesses. Look closely and you'll spot nudibranchs grazing on the algae-covered metal. Our favourite part is swimming slowly over the deck structure, imagining the life of the fishermen who once worked it. It’s a gentle, reflective dive, a great spot to spend an hour observing the quieter side of the Mediterranean.
