NO.482 - Al Hoceima

NO.482, off Al Hoceima, isn't some deep, technical dive. It’s a shallow wreck, sitting at just 11 metres, but what it lacks in depth it makes up for in character. We love the way this lighter vessel has settled on the seabed, almost as if it’s just taking a rest. The stern is our favourite part; it’s still relatively intact, offering some nice swim-throughs if you're comfortable with confined spaces. Sunlight filters through the dappled water, illuminating schools of damselfish that dart in and out of the corroded metal. We’ve often seen moray eels peeking out from beneath the larger plates of steel, completely unfazed by divers. Visibility here can be a bit variable, especially after a good easterly wind, so we’d suggest going on a calm morning. It’s an ideal site for anyone looking to spend a relaxed hour exploring a piece of history, without the pressure of strong currents or extreme depth. Perfect for photographers too, the ambient light at 11m is fantastic.
