OKEANUS - Al Hoceima

Alright, the Okeanus. This wreck, a old wooden fishing vessel, sits upright at 20 metres just south of Galley Stack. We always find its history interesting, scuttled deliberately after sinking in the harbour back in the 80s – you can almost feel the story in its timbers. What we love about the Okeanus is how it's become a proper home for the local residents. Shoals of tiny damselfish flit in and out of the hold, creating a shimmering curtain when the light catches them just right. Head around the bow, and you'll often find moray eels peeking from crevices, their heads swaying gently, watching you with that unblinking stare. The wooden hull is slowly collapsing in places, which just adds to its character. It's a comfortable dive, not too deep, and typically has decent visibility, so you can really take your time exploring the deck and what's left of the superstructure. We’d say it's perfect for anyone who enjoys a relaxed wreck dive, especially photographers looking for marine life in a sheltered setting. Just be mindful of the occasional loose plank inside.
