PECIO PUERTO PAJARES - Al Hoceima

The Pecio Puerto Pajares is a proper wreck dive, sitting upright at 24 metres, off Al Hoceima. We love this one for its accessibility and just how intact it remains. You can really get a sense of its past, poking around the bow and stern sections, imagining the ship in its working days. Visibility here often hits 20 metres, so the scale of the wreck is clear as you descend – the ship’s davits are still there, reaching out, and the main superstructure offers plenty of nooks to explore. Our favourite part is the engine room, which is still quite open and invites a careful penetration if you’re comfortable. Look for the resident moray eels peeking from crevices, and we’ve often seen schools of damselfish flitting through the holds. It’s an intermediate dive, nothing too taxing, but the sheer size of the wreck means you’ll want to manage your air well to explore it fully. Best to hit it in the morning, before any afternoon chop picks up, when the light really plays nicely on the metalwork.
