SANTA IRENE - Al Hoceima
Santa Irene, near Al Hoceima, offers a shallow wreck dive that’s good for a relaxed exploration. This old steamship, once the Ocean Wanderer, ran aground in 1962 and broke in two, so you’re looking at a significant footprint of wreckage spread across the seabed at around 10 meters. It’s pretty broken up, but you can still make out the bones of the ship, and that’s where the resident fish like to hang out. We've often seen schools of damselfish flitting around the metal structures, and the occasional moray eel peeking from a sheltered crevice. It’s a straightforward dive, suitable for divers wanting to experience a historical wreck without deep depths or strong currents.
