ZURICH - Al Hoceima

The Zurich wreck, just offshore from Al Hoceima, sits in water so shallow you can practically snorkel it. At a maximum depth of two metres, this isn't a deep dive by any stretch, but what it lacks in depth it more than makes up for in character. We love how the sun dapples through the surface, illuminating the ghostly remains of this steamship. You can easily make out sections of the hull, ribs, and scattered machinery, all encrusted in a furry coat of algae and small anemones. It’s perfect for a relaxed second dive or for divers new to wrecks, offering a safe, open environment to explore. Look closely in the nooks and crannies; we often spot small gobies darting around, and shoals of juvenile fish flitting between the rusted metal. The real joy here is the accessibility and the feeling of swimming through a piece of history, without the usual depth or current concerns. Our favourite time to visit is mid-morning, when the light is brightest and cuts through the water, making the wreck truly glow.
