Dom João de Castro - Azores
Diving Dom João de Castro, it’s not really about the coral, but the sheer volume of fish. This submerged pinnacle, topping out at 13 meters and dropping to 27 meters, acts like a magnet for pelagics. We’ve often seen schools of barracuda circling, sometimes dozens of bonitos, and the odd wahoo streaking past. The currents here can be lively, so it’s best for intermediate divers comfortable with a drift. The visibility is usually excellent, so you can watch the action unfold from a distance.
