The team at Buceo en Cabo de Gata are exactly the kind of people we love diving with. They’re based in Cabo de Palos, not Cabo de Gata itself, which is a key distinction because it puts them right on the doorstep of the Islas Hormigas Marine Reserve – our favourite dive area in mainland Spain. These guys really know their local waters, from the wrecks to the deeper seamounts. We’d recommend them for divers looking for a professional, unpretentious experience. They're PADI 5 Star, so expect solid instruction and well-maintained gear, though we always recommend bringing your own mask and computer. Their boats are quick, getting you out to sites like El Bajo de Fuera or the Naranjito wreck efficiently. We’ve found their morning trips are usually less crowded, offering a bit more space to gear up and chat. Afternoons can get busy, especially in summer. Keep an eye out for the resident sunfish on the deeper pinnacles in late spring; seeing one glide by in the blue is something else.
