Barda de Pere el Flaquer - Medes Islands

Barda de Pere el Flaquer is our pick for a really good wall dive in the Medes, especially if you’re looking to get a feel for the deeper stuff without committing to the big currents. The wall here is just gorgeous. As you descend, the light shifts, and the reds and oranges of the gorgonian fans really pop. We love just hanging out, watching for morays peeking from crevices or a shy bastard sole camouflaged on the rocky bottom. The sheer density of fish here is what makes it a standout for us. You often find porgies schooling overhead and salemas flashing past. Keep an eye out for pearlfish near sea cucumbers; they’re a neat find if you’re patient. We’ve also had some lovely encounters with elegant cuttlefish here, just hovering, changing colours. It’s a site that rewards slow diving. We’d suggest going in the mid-morning, after the initial rush, to really soak it all in. The currents here are generally manageable, but always check the conditions.
