Barda de l'Illa Negra - Medes Islands

The Barda de l'Illa Negra always feels like stepping into a secret garden, even when there are other boats around. We love the way the wall drops away, covered in those delicate bushy corals and the bright orange sunset cup corals. It’s a riot of colour. We’ve often found ourselves eye-to-eye with big groupers just hanging in the blue, and the schools of annular seabream can be so thick they genuinely dim the light. Keep an eye out for the slithery bastard sole on the sand patches, they’re masters of disguise. For us, the highlight is finding the deeper gorgonians, like the purple Paramuricea clavata, standing proud against the rock. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration, peering into every crack and crevice. We’d suggest going early in the morning for the best light and fewer divers. This spot is perfect for anyone who loves a good wall dive with plenty of nooks to explore, rather than just zooming past.
