Cala maussana - Medes Islands

Cala Maussana is one of those Medes spots we keep coming back to. It’s not about dramatic walls or huge pelagics here. Instead, it’s a site for the slow diver, the one who loves peering into every crack and crevice. You’ll find yourself drifting over extensive beds of Neptune grass, a vibrant green contrasting with the sandy patches, and it’s in these sandy areas that the real magic happens. We’ve spent entire dives just watching the bottom for Atlantic stargazers buried up to their eyes, or spotting the distinctive frilly tubes of sand horseshoe worms. It's a fantastic spot for macro, with black coral colonies tucked away, and if you’re patient, you might even catch a glimpse of the rare alder’s necklace shell. The rough pitar clams are everywhere, and we often see lesser argentine darting through the water column. It suits divers who appreciate subtle beauty and don’t mind taking their time. Come here when you want a break from the hustle and bustle, and just want to observe.
