Canons de Tamariu - Medes Islands

Canons de Tamariu, off the Medes Islands, is a site we return to again and again. It’s got that signature Medes Islands feel, but with a twist. The topography here is what we love most, those deep canyons plunging down, creating dramatic shadows and light play. You’ll find yourself surrounded by big schools of annular seabream, almost thick enough to obscure the rock walls at times. We’ve had some fantastic encounters with garrick here, powerful hunters that seem to patrol the deeper sections of the canyons. Keep an eye out for common lobsters tucked into crevices, and we often spot ornate wrasse darting around the shallower sunlit areas. We’d suggest heading out in the morning; the light angles really make the canyons pop. The currents can pick up a bit, so it's a site that rewards experienced divers who are comfortable navigating dynamic conditions. It's a proper Mediterranean dive, full of life, but with a unique structure that sets it apart from other spots in the region.
