Cap de Begur (Buceig) - Medes Islands

Cap de Begur is a site we keep coming back to. It’s not about huge pelagics or dramatic drop-offs, but the sheer density of life in the nooks and crannies. We particularly love the feeling of exploring those rocky crevices, knowing a brown comber could dart out at any moment. Keep an eye out for the incredibly well-camouflaged bastard sole on sandy patches; it takes a sharp eye to spot one. Our favourite time to dive here is mid-morning, just as the light starts to penetrate the shallows, really bringing out the colours of the red band-fish hiding in the gorgonians. If you’re patient, you might even catch a glimpse of a curled octopus peeking from its lair. It’s a dive that rewards slow, deliberate exploration, making it perfect for photographers or anyone who just wants to soak in the intricacies of the Mediterranean. Expect to spend a good portion of your dive scrutinising every overhang and cranny.
