Centre de Loisirs des Goudes - Medes Islands

We’ve always had a soft spot for the Medes, and Centre de Loisirs des Goudes is a big reason why. It’s got that classic Mediterranean feel, a place where you really feel the history of the sea. Drop down and the first thing you notice is the light, filtering through the water onto big boulders covered in pink sea fans. We love drifting along here, keeping an eye out for dusky groupers – they’re fairly shy but you’ll often catch them peeking out from a rocky overhang. This site is less about dramatic walls and more about intricate nooks and crannies. We often spend a good chunk of a dive just exploring the cracks, looking for snapping shrimp clicking away or a painted comber darting between the rocks. The sponges here are fantastic too, particularly the black leather sponges, their texture is really something to feel with your eyes. Visibility is usually solid, making it a relaxing dive. It’s a great spot for photographers who enjoy macro and wide-angle on the same dive, offering plenty of subjects from tiny crabs to those impressive sea fans. It’s not a deep dive, making it suitable for newer divers looking for a peaceful exploration, but experienced eyes will find plenty to hold their attention.
