CESMM - Medes Islands

CESMM isn't just another buoy at Medes; it's our pick for experiencing the island’s signature feel. Descending, you’ll likely feel the cooler water hit you first, a Mediterranean embrace. We’ve found the best approach is to drop down to about 20 metres, where the rock face begins to really open up. Look closely in the cracks and you'll spot common spiny lobsters waving their antennae, and often, schools of salema shimmer in the blue. Further along, the sheer density of fish life is what sets CESMM apart. Damsel fish dart in and out of the soft coral, and the occasional corb hangs out, surprisingly unafraid. It's a site that rewards a slow, observant dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who wants to really soak in the busy Medes ecosystem without too much current drama. We particularly love it on a sunny afternoon when the light penetrates beautifully, illuminating the rock wall.
