CIP Le Lavandou - Medes Islands

CIP Le Lavandou. Medes Islands. If you’re anything like us, just the name brings back the scent of salt and sun-warmed rocks. This isn't the Maldives, obviously, but it’s pure Mediterranean magic. We love how the light plays through the water here, especially on a sunny morning. You'll find yourself drifting past thick Neptune grass beds, then suddenly, the wall drops away. It's a proper playground for those macro moments. Keep your eyes peeled for nudibranchs tucked into crevices and moray eels peeking out from under rocks. On a good day, the visibility stretches out to twenty metres or more, making the deeper sections feel particularly inviting. Our favourite thing about Le Lavandou is the sheer density of schooling fish. Sometimes the barracuda cruise by in numbers that make you do a double-take. We’d suggest going early in the season, late spring, before the summer crowds really descend. The water's a bit cooler then, but the trade-off is often clearer conditions and fewer boats. It’s a site that rewards a slow, observant dive. Don't rush it. Take your time exploring the overhangs; you might just spot a red gorgonian fan or a sleepy grouper.
