CMCAS Plongée - Medes Islands

CMCAS Plongée, on the Medes Islands, is one of those Mediterranean sites we always circle back to. Forget what you think you know about Med diving, this place has a different feel. As you descend, the light shifts, catching on schools of blacktail bream that shimmer past. We’ve often found ourselves just watching the resident rock gobies, perfectly camouflaged against the rock, or spotting an Atlantic stargazer peering up from the sand. It’s a site that rewards patience, particularly if you’re into the smaller, more unusual stuff. We’ve encountered everything from the delicate blues of the sunset cup coral to the bizarre, almost alien form of an anglerfish tucked away. Keep an eye out for the wrinkled swimming crab scuttling across the bottom. The visibility here can be excellent on a good day, giving you plenty of time to really soak it all in. Our tip: go early to beat the boat traffic and give yourself the best chance for those quieter encounters. This spot suits divers who appreciate detailed observation over big pelagics, and it’s a good one for sharpening your macro skills.
