Dolfi Nord - Medes Islands

Dolfi Nord, for us, is one of those Mediterranean sites that just keeps on giving. It’s not about huge pelagics, it’s about the intricate details, the little nooks and crannies. We usually start by dropping down onto the main rock formation, where the sheer density of sunset cup corals is incredible. They glow orange under your torch beam, a proper feast for the eyes. Keep your eyes peeled for Grohmann's scaldfish, masters of camouflage, and if you’re patient, you might spot a seahorse clinging to some gorgonian. The dusky groupers here are particularly chunky, often just hanging out in the crevices, watching you pass. We’ve found the split in the rock face to be a favourite haunt for them, along with various wrasse species darting in and out. It’s a site where slow diving really pays off. If you’re into macro life and enjoying a genuinely healthy Mediterranean reef, Dolfi Nord is a top pick.
