el Salpatxot - Medes Islands

Salpatxot often gets overlooked for some of Medes’ flashier sites, but we always make a point of diving it. There’s a quiet beauty here, a kind of serene chaos as you descend. The topography is rugged, lots of crevices and overhangs begging for a closer look. We’ve had some truly memorable encounters here, especially with the bigger stuff. We once watched a decent-sized stingray glide past, completely unbothered by our presence. Keep an eye out for boarfish tucked into the cracks, their strange, elongated snouts always make us smile. The resident lobsters are impressively large too, their antennae waving from shadowy nooks. If you’re patient and keep your eyes peeled for the smaller, more unusual finds, you might even spot a stout bobtail squid or a sea horse clinging to the gorgonians. This isn’t a site for blasting through; it’s for taking your time, exploring every crack and shadow. We’d suggest a slow, deliberate dive, really focusing on the details. It’s perfect for photographers or anyone who appreciates the subtle drama of the Medes.
