H2O Diving Center - Medes Islands

H2O at Medes Islands has a strange name for a dive site, doesn't it? We usually know it as one of the best spots to find those truly quirky bottom dwellers. You’re descending into a rocky reef that slopes down, getting plenty of light in the shallower sections. Keep your eyes peeled on the sand patches and rubble, especially if you’ve got a good guide. We’ve spent whole dives here just looking for Atlantic Stargazers, half-buried and staring up with those comical eyes. It's a fantastic spot for macro enthusiasts and anyone who enjoys a slow, deliberate dive. You’ll find butterfly blennies peeking from holes, and we’ve often spotted scaldfish fluttering along the sand. The red coral here is pretty striking, a splash of colour against the rock. Look closely for elegant cuttlefish changing patterns, and if you’re lucky, a sting ray gliding by. We'd suggest going early in the morning, before other boats stir up the sediment, for the best visibility to find those camouflaged characters like wide-eyed flounder and spotted dragonets. It's not a rip-roaring drift, but a meditative hunt.
