KLEBER - Medes Islands

Kleber is one of our favourite wreck dives in the Medes, despite its shallow depth. We’re talking just six metres, so you’re looking at long bottom times, which is perfect because there’s plenty to explore. This isn’t a pristine wreck sitting upright, more a sprawling collection of metal that was once a 40-metre steamship, sunk by a mine in 1917. What we love about Kleber is how it’s become part of the reef. The metal hull plates and machinery are completely encrusted with colourful sponges and soft corals, a real explosion of purples and yellows. You’ll find moray eels tucked into every crevice, groupers lurking under the larger sections, and schools of damselfish flitting through the beams. It’s an easy dive, suitable for all experience levels, but there’s enough history and life here to keep even the most seasoned diver engaged. We always recommend spending time slowly picking through the scattered pieces; you’ll keep spotting new details, like an old boiler or a section of the stern, now home to a thriving mini-ecosystem. The visibility here is usually excellent, so you get great light play on the encrusted metal.
