La Dent de Requin - Medes Islands

La Dent de Requin has a reputation, and for good reason. It’s a standout, even in the Medes Islands. The site gets its name, "Shark’s Tooth", from a solitary pinnacle that rises from the seabed, pointing towards the surface. We love dropping down into the blue here, feeling that slight current that usually whispers past. You’ll often find schools of barracuda circling the pinnacle, glinting in the shafts of sunlight that break through the surface. Our favourite part is exploring the deeper cracks and crevices around the base. That's where you often spot the larger groupers, sometimes even a dusky grouper peering out from its hideaway. Look for the yellow-legged gulls circling above before your dive, a good sign of surface activity. We’d suggest hitting this site early, before the midday boat rush, to really soak in the atmosphere. The visibility can be excellent, often pushing past 20 metres, making those barracuda schools even more impressive. It’s a site that rewards experienced divers who can take their time and really explore.
