Le Dalton - Medes Islands

Le Dalton is our favourite wreck dive in the Medes, hands down. We've finned around a lot of sunken metal, but this one feels particularly atmospheric. It’s an old cargo ship, sitting upright, and it’s been down there long enough for the Mediterranean to really reclaim it. You’ll find dusky groupers lurking in the shadows of the holds, big old fish that watch you with a wary eye. Swim through the wheelhouse and you might feel the shift in current, a gentle nudge, as you exit to see schools of ornate wrasse flitting across the deck. The wreck itself is mostly intact, offering plenty of nooks and crannies to explore. We always try to spend some time around the bow, where the light plays beautifully through the superstructure, highlighting the beadlet anemones clinging to the hull. Keep an eye out for the smaller stuff too – we’ve spotted seahorses tucked away in the calmer sections near the stern before. The visibility here can be great, especially in late spring, making the scale of the wreck truly impressive. It’s a dive that rewards a slow pace, letting you really soak in the history and the vibrant new life that’s made it home. If you enjoy a bit of history with your fish, Le Dalton is a real winner.
