Le Doris Plongée - Medes Islands

Le Doris Plongée has a reputation around the Medes Islands, and for good reason. It’s one of those sites where you drop down and the water just *feels* alive. We love the sheer density of fish here. You’ll find yourself finning through shoals of painted combers and corkwing wrasse, so thick they almost obscure the rock formations. Keep an eye out for the shy bastard sole, perfectly camouflaged against the sand patches, and we’ve often spotted grey gurnards poking around the seafloor. What makes Le Doris special for us isn't necessarily massive pelagics, though we have seen the occasional short-beaked common dolphin zip past in the blue. It’s the constant, bustling activity closer to the reef. The visibility here is usually very decent, allowing you to really soak in the details. We’d suggest going in the morning if you can; the light hitting the rock walls is just beautiful, and the fish tend to be a little more active before the dive boats really get going. It’s a site that suits divers who enjoy a lively reefscape and are happy to take their time exploring the nooks and crannies. If you like to drift, it's not the place, but if you like to settle into a spot and watch the world go by, Le Doris is a great pick.
