Le Liban - Medes Islands

Le Liban is our favourite wreck in the Medes, hands down. We just love the story here, a cargo ship sunk in the 1930s, leaving a steel skeleton now completely absorbed by the sea. Dropping down onto the main deck, you immediately feel that sense of history, the metal plates sagging, draped in sponges and anemones. We’ve spent whole dives just poking around the hold, watching schools of deep-body pickarel dart between the beams, or trying to spot a shy spotted dragonet perched on a growth. This isn’t a wreck for penetration, but for exploration. The stern and bow sections are the most intact, offering plenty of nooks for conger eels and garrupa. Look out for the African armoured searobin, they often bury themselves in the silty patches nearby, their pectoral fins spread like wings. The visibility here can vary, but even on a slightly murkier day, the sheer density of life on the wreck makes it worthwhile. It's a proper adventure, a real dive into the past and into an ecosystem thriving on steel.
