PADUA - Medes Islands

The *Padua* is a proper piece of history down there, a steamship that went down in 1943, likely hitting a mine while carrying parcels for POWs. At 53 metres long, she’s a substantial wreck, resting at 48m, so this is one for experienced divers with the right qualifcations. The hull is still largely intact, and you can make out the bow and stern quite clearly, though the midships section shows the damage that sent her to the bottom. We’ve seen conger eels poking out from behind collapsed plating and schools of barracuda hanging above the main deck, using the superstructure for shelter. It's a sombre but fascinating dive, offering a real sense of a moment frozen in time.
