Pinassen - Medes Islands

Pinassen, for us, is one of the true delights of the Medes. It’s not always the first site divers ask for, but we’re convinced it should be on every Medes itinerary. Drop in, and you’ll find yourself navigating through a maze of rock formations, some of the most intricate in the islands. Sunlight filters down, painting the walls with shifting patterns, a real sensory experience as you weave through narrow passages and emerge into sunlit chambers. Look closely, and you’ll spot those elusive Alder's Necklace Shells, their delicate forms clinging to the gorgonian fans. We always keep an eye out for the speckled sea-louse, a surprisingly colourful little creature if you know where to look. It’s the kind of dive where you want to take your time, exploring every crack and crevice. While the main draw here is the topography and the smaller critters, we’ve had a few incredible encounters with Blackfish schooling just off the main reef. Pinassen is a standout for divers who appreciate nuanced, exploratory diving rather than just wide-open reefscapes. Our tip? Go early in the morning for the best light penetration and fewer divers.
