Plongeoir - Medes Islands

Plongeoir is one of those Medes sites we head for when we want a bit of everything, without too much fuss. You drop onto a rocky reef, usually out of any significant current, and immediately feel that cool Mediterranean embrace. We love drifting along the wall, eyes peeled for those surprisingly large groups of salema, their silver scales catching the light, almost like a slow-motion glitter bomb. You’ll spot nudibranchs, if you take your time and actually *look*, particularly the Alder’s Necklace Shell. Keep an eye on the deeper blue, though; we've had moonfish pass by here more than once, just ghosting along. It’s a site that rewards a slow pace. While it might not have the dramatic caves of some other Medes spots, the sheer density of everyday Mediterranean life, from colourful butterfly blennies to the occasional razorback, makes it a consistently good dive. It’s perfect for a second dive of the day, or if you’re just getting comfortable with the Medes experience.
