Sèche Salagru - Medes Islands

Sèche Salagru is one of our favourite spots in the Medes Islands, a real Mediterranean classic. You drop onto a rocky pinnacle that seems to rise out of nowhere, often with schools of barracuda circling the top. We’ve found the best approach is to start shallow, around 10-15 metres, and just let the site unveil itself. As you descend, the rock face becomes a tapestry of colour, especially with those enormous pink sea fans swaying gently in the current – they're just stunning, some of the biggest we've seen. We love Salagru because it’s got that dramatic topography that makes for a proper dive adventure, not just a drift over flat bottom. Keep an eye out for snapper lurking in the crevices and the more unusual finds like the variable loggerhead sponge. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a dolphin pod passing by in the deeper blue – we once saw blue-whites here, a magical moment. The currents can pick up a bit, so it suits divers who are comfortable with that, but it's rarely anything too challenging. This is a dive for photographers and explorers who appreciate the rugged beauty of the Med.
