Tiboulen de frioul - Medes Islands

Tiboulen de Frioul is one of those Medes Islands spots we always try to hit, especially when the light is right. It’s not about grand canyons or huge pelagics here; it's the smaller details, the kind of dive where you really slow down. We’ve spent entire bottom times just exploring the nooks and crannies, finding things like broadnosed pipefish tucked away and the vibrant ornate wrasse darting between the rocks. The dusky groupers here are particularly impressive, often quite curious, letting you get a good look before they disappear back into the shadows. What makes Tiboulen special for us is that intimate feel, almost like you’re dropping into a private aquarium. We’d suggest going early in the morning, before the boat traffic picks up, when the water is calm and the sunbeams pierce through, really highlighting the colours of the bushy coral. It's a fantastic site for photographers or anyone who enjoys patient, observational diving. You'll want to take your time here, peering into every crevice, because that’s where you’ll often spot the smaller treasures, like a seahorse clinging to a bit of seagrass or a shy elliptical file-shell.
