Underwater path with antique vases and wreck - Medes Islands

We’ve always had a soft spot for the Medes, but the Underwater Path with antique vases and the wreck is one of our favourites for a reason. It’s a proper journey back in time, not just another dive. You drop down, and the first thing you notice are these scattered amphorae, some perfectly intact, others just fragments, resting on the seabed like the ghosts of ancient trade routes. It’s genuinely evocative, picturing what they might have carried. Then you hit the wreck. It’s not a massive liner, more like a working boat that’s settled into the sand, but that’s its charm. We love pushing into the cargo holds, imagining the crew, and seeing how the light plays through the gaps in the decking. Schools of damsel fish hang suspended over the superstructure, and we’ve often spotted the razorback wriggling amongst the growth. Keep an eye out for cowfish peeking from the shadows; they’re surprisingly curious here. This site is perfect for anyone who loves a bit of history with their dive, or just wants something a bit different from a straight reef exploration. Go early in the morning for the best light on those vases.
