Vrakdykarpensionatet Captain Baltic - Baltic Coast

The team at Vrakdykarpensionatet Captain Baltic are the kind of outfit you wish every dive shop could be. They specialise in something truly unique: the cold, dark, incredibly preserved wrecks of the Baltic. If your idea of a good dive involves ghost ships and maritime history rather than warm water and bright fish, this is absolutely your spot. We love that they’ve built a whole pensionat around the diving, making it a proper immersive experience, rather than just a quick boat trip. It’s not for everyone, mind you. The diving here is often deep, dark, and chilly, sometimes with limited visibility – typical Baltic conditions. But what you get in return is phenomenal. Think of a 17th-century merchant ship, sails long gone but the hull still intact, pottery scattered across the deck, timber creaking (or at least, you imagine it creaking) in the slight current. You’ll definitely need drysuit experience and good buoyancy. Our favourite tip? The earlier in the season, late spring to early summer, the better your chances for slightly clearer water before the plankton blooms. They run a fantastic operation, PADI 5 Star IDC, so you know the training and safety are top-notch. Come here to feel like an underwater archaeologist, exploring history that’s been frozen in time.
