IAN PACE - Tabarka

The Ian Pace, well, she’s a proper wreck dive, sitting upright at 40 metres off Tabarka. We love a deep wreck, and this one delivers. Sunk back in 1970 after her cargo shifted in a storm, she’s settled into the seabed, deck guns still pointing skyward, if you know where to look. Descending, you feel the pressure change, the light dimming to that deep blue that just whispers ‘history’. Her holds are open, a dark invitation, but we’d suggest exploring the superstructure first. Barracuda often hang in the current off the bow, silver flashes against the gloom. Inside, the corridors are tight, draped in sponges and soft corals, a vibrant counterpoint to the decaying metal. Look for moray eels peering from portholes and the odd group of dusky groupers ghosting through the galley. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration, a place where you can really feel the story of the sea. Just be mindful of your bottom time down there.
