ARVOR - Cornwall & Devon
The Arvor is a sturdy reminder of wartime losses, lying at 21 meters, roughly a mile off the coast between Black Head and Lizard Point. This sailing vessel, sunk in 1918, is now well-broken, but still offers a scatter of hull plates and structural ribs to explore. We’ve found conger eels tucked into the larger sections, and the metalwork attracts plenty of plumose anemones, especially in the slightly deeper, darker crevices. It’s a good dive for those who enjoy poking around historical sites and appreciate the way the sea reclaims things, rather than intact structures. Just keep an eye on the boat traffic in the area; it can be busy.
