With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - BEATA offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
Diving the Beata, a sailing vessel sunk by a German U-boat in 1918, is a real trip back in time. Lying at 18 metres off The Lizard, she’s broken but still holds a lot of character. We often find conger eels tucked into what’s left of the hull, and crabs scuttling across the timbers. It’s a good easy dive for anyone who enjoys exploring a bit of history, particularly on a calm day when the visibility plays ball. Keep an eye out for the odd dogfish lurking nearby.
