BREST

Lizard Point
Why dive here
With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - BREST offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
The Brest, an old steamship that ran aground in a dense fog back in 1879, offers a shallow dive, maxing out at about 4 metres. What you get here are scattered remains, mostly iron, spread across a rocky seabed. We’ve found bits of hull plating and machinery, now well-colonised by kelp and various anemones. It’s a site that really suits newer divers, or those looking for a relaxed second dive, where you can potter around for a good while, spotting spider crabs tucked into crevices and small schools of pollack flitting through the wreckage. It's not a grand, intact wreck, but a historical site, slowly being reclaimed by the sea.
