With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - Challaborough Bay offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest reef diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
Challaborough Bay offers a fairly easy shore dive, best explored at high slack tide. You’ll find a mix of rocky reef and sandy patches, with plenty of wrasse and flatfish usually making an appearance. It's a decent spot for a relaxed shallow dive, particularly if you're looking for an uncomplicated entry point. We'd suggest it for newer divers or those wanting a gentle afternoon dip.
