CONSTANCE - Cornwall & Devon

Constance isn't deep, only 8m, which makes it a fantastic long-duration dive, and honestly, we love it for that. She’s a steamship that ran aground in thick fog back in 1888, now largely broken up, but still holds a surprising amount of character for a wreck that's been down so long. You’ll find the boilers are a real focal point, huge and imposing, and the general debris field spreads out around them. We've spent many an hour poking around the plates and ribs, finding all sorts of critters tucked away. It's a site that really shows how quickly the sea reclaims things. Look closely in the nooks and crannies; you’ll spot wrasse darting between the metalwork and crabs scuttling amongst the growth. The light penetration here is excellent, even on a cloudy day, so colours are often good. It's a perfect spot for newer wreck divers or those just wanting a relaxed, shallow bimble with some history. We'd suggest picking a slack tide for the best visibility, though currents here are generally manageable.
