    StandoutExceptional marine biodiversity

The Eastfield isn't just another lump of metal on the seabed. This substantial steamer, torpedoed in 1917, now lies broken but still proud at 50 metres, a proper deep dive that requires experience and respect. We love the way the hull is split midships, creating a dramatic canyon effect that you can really swim through, feeling the compressed history all around you. Visibility here can be surprisingly good on a calm day, letting you pick out details like the massive boilers and the stern section, which is our favourite part, often shrouded in a shoal of pout. This site truly suits divers who appreciate a wreck with a story, offering a palpable sense of the past alongside the present-day marine life – look for lobsters tucked into the plates and conger eels peering from the darker corners.
