FORGET ME NOT - Cornwall & Devon

Forget Me Not isn't your typical imposing wreck, but it’s a brilliant dive for those who appreciate the smaller scale, the quiet beauty of a wooden vessel succumbing to the sea. We love visiting this fishing boat, which settled upright on the seabed in 2013, still mostly intact. Descending, you can make out the lines of the hull, the deckhouse, even the wheelhouse. It’s got a peaceful, almost somber feel to it, certainly not a dramatic wreck full of penetration options, but perfect for a thoughtful bimble. Over the years, the Forget Me Not has become a proper little haven. The wooden structure, while gradually softening, is absolutely carpeted in jewel anemones and hydroids, creating bursts of orange and pink against the darker timbers. You’ll often find conger eels tucked into any available crevice, their heads poking out with a wary glance. Look closely among the deck planks and you'll spot blennies and gobies darting about. We’d suggest taking your time here, hovering above the deck, and letting your eyes adjust to the intricate detail of the growth. It’s a photographer’s delight if you enjoy macro work or intimate wreck shots, especially on a day with good visibility when the ambient light really brings out the colours.
